Ethics for Building Designers

30/09/2020 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

SPONSOR/S:

OVERVIEW:

Ethics in all aspects of society and business is important. Ethics is about doing the right thing when no-one is looking.

In Australia in recent years we have been living in an age of royal commissions investigating and reporting on a variety of conduct which members of the general public and governments have found to be unacceptable and unethical.  We all need to look inwards to ensure that our industry or profession maintains the highest ethical standards for the benefit of our customers and clients and the general public.

This highly interactive ethics seminar will explore these concepts through a series of real life thought provoking examples from within the design and building sector

SPEAKER:

Michael Dolan
Law Institute of Victoria

Michael Dolan is Special Counsel Ethics at the Law Institute of Victoria and has been working exclusively in the area of ethics for solicitors during the past 10 years. Michael speaks on a daily basis with solicitors advising them about the ethical challenges they face in legal practice. He also presents regular CPD conference sessions and webinars and publishes articles in peer reviewed journals. Michael has had long experience as a solicitor in private practice and as in-house corporate counsel. He has also held senior executive management roles in the electricity supply sector in Australia and the mobile telecommunications industry in the United Kingdom.
