DARWIN: Members of the Building Designers Association of the Northern Territory (BDANT) today voted to amalgamate with Design Matters National (DMN), the national peak body for building designers, thermal performance assessors and related professionals working in the built environment.

“Today’s decision by BDANT Members to amalgamate with DMN reflects our shared values and vision for a truly national body with the capability, capacity and standing to represent the best interests of Building Designers, Thermal Performance Assessors, Architects, Building Surveyors, Town Planners and Interior and Landscape Designers right across Australia,” Peta Anderson, CEO, Design Matters National, said.

“This union gives DMN a long-awaited local presence in the Northern Territory, meaning DMN’s 2,000+ Members, spread primarily across the eastern and southern states, will now gain access to a pool of talented, NT-based colleagues whose knowledge they can draw on. We thank the NT for choosing DMN,sincerely welcome our new Members, and look forward to holding the first of many DMN events in Darwin, in early 2021,” she said. Darron Lyons, President of the BDANT, echoed Peta’s sentiments.

“DMN represents more Building Designers than any other industry association in Australia, so it’s obvious why we’ve made this decision, and we’re excited to be joining their ranks. This alliance will raise the status of Building Designers, and create public awareness of who they are by showing what they do,” he said.

“Our local building industry stands to gain real support, education and advocacy thanks to DMN’s national pool of resources. We’re also looking forward to participating in DMN’s Annual Building Design Awards, CPD education and lots of opportunities to network, and joining the Members-only Facebook Group to connect with Members all over the country. We’re really excited ” he said.

NT-based Members of DMN will have the opportunity to take part in the DMN local and national awards; receive regular industry updates via regular newsletters and magazines; benefit from powerful advocacy at state and national levels; and join more than 2,000 professionals working in the Built Environment who choose DMN to represent their professions.
