We’re excited to announce and invite you to the launch of the new DMN City Event Series, delivering technical sessions and networking opportunities face-to-face in Perth and Melbourne, with live-streaming available for members across the country.

Join us for an evening technical session for building designers focused on what matters most in winter: a warm, comfortable, compliant home that doesn’t cost a fortune to run. This event brings together three complementary experts – AWS (Architectural Window Systems), MAXRaft insulated slabs, and Kingspan insulation – to walk you through how high-performance windows, slabs, and continuous insulation work together as a system. Each will deliver a focused 20-minute presentation tailored to Australian residential design, with practical detailing tips you can apply immediately in your documentation to meet or exceed NCC and NatHERS requirements. This is the inaugural in-person and live-streamed City Event, alternating between Melbourne and Perth, featuring three technical presentations, networking and refreshments.

 Learning Outcomes

Across the session you will:
- Understand how insulated slab systems (MaxRaft) reduce thermal bridging at ground level, improve winter comfort and support higher performance NatHERS outcomes.
- See practical slab edge and footing details, including coordination with floor finishes, services and perimeter drainage, to avoid common cold-bridge failures.
- Clarify where and how to use continuous insulation (Kingspan) – under slab, in walls and roof – to create a coherent thermal envelope rather than isolated upgrades.
- Learn how to read and apply product data, R-values and system performance to meet NCC energy-efficiency requirements in a cost-effective way.
- Explore how AWS window and door systems can minimise heat loss through openings, including frame selection, Uw/SHGC values, condensation management and installation detailing.
- See how improved glazing and frame performance interact with insulated slabs and walls to change NatHERS results and real-world comfort.
- Pick up practical coordination tips between designer, energy assessor and suppliers so the specified solution is buildable, cost-aware and delivers the promised performance on site.
