SPEAKERS:

Simone Schenkel - Gruneco Design

Simone Schenkel is a Certified Passive House Designer, and owner at Gruen Eco Design. Thanks to her architectural studies in Germany, an essential part of her education was based on sustainability as well as passive house design.

She is passionate about sustainable design. Because sustainable design can and must be affordable for everyone. As a matter of course should be integrated throughout the whole design process. Rather than designing something and trying to make it sustainable later.

Sven Maxa - Maxa Design

Sven Maxa established Maxa Design in 2004 and has developed the practice’s reputation for leading-edge sustainable design excellence. The studio specialises in high-level eco and energy efficient homes built to brief and budget with creativity, a practical can-do approach, and a singular dedication to creating the best possible outcomes for every client and every project. Sven is actively involved in the building design community as a member of the Committee of Management for the Building Designers Association (BDAV) of Victoria. He regularly presents to professionals and advocates for eco homes design to the broader community. Sven was also a judge in the 2017 BDAV Design Awards. Sven is an accredited HIA GreenSmart Professional, a Registered Building Practitioner, and a Certified Passive House Designer.

Joel Seagren - APHA

Joel Seagren is Fantech's National MVHR Manager and a Director of the Australian Passive House Association. He's passionate about helping people design high performance ventilation systems.

John Konstantakopoulos - Efficiency Matrix

John Konstantakopoulos, a Principle Consultant, founded Efficiency Matrix with the Fire-rated Downlight Mitt/Cover product. From there, he proceeded to grow Efficiency Matrix into building air-tightness/building performance.  He has completed many whole building commercial air-tightness blower door tests in Australia, and successfully consulted with builders to achieve buildings of an airtight state lower than 5m3/h/m2@50Pa.  His relationship with builders over the years has earned him repeat business from many the large construction companies operating in Australia.  Founded a series called ecoEVOdesigns on YouTube, and stars as the host of the show (www.ecoevo.com.au). John is  ATTMA Level 2 Certified and has also tested on  Oil & Gas platforms.

Harley Truong - Logikhaus

Harley is based in Canberra and has qualifications in engineering, science and is a certified Passive House consultant.  He is a pioneer in the Australian Passive House movement designing two early passive houses that are frequently open to the public for educational tours.

Harley is a director of Logikhaus, a supplier of passive house windows and ventilation systems.  Its mission is to see as many repeatable passive houses built as possible to drive down the cost and lift the uptake of low energy housing in Australia.
