Melanie Lupis, Home Energy Efficiency Consultant, worked with Lachlan McEwen, Building Designer, to produce the NSW state winning entry ‘True Blue Zero CO2’ in 2022. Melanie will be discussing her experience of being involved in the competition, including what to expect, how much time to put aside for it, what worked for her team in terms of meetings, workshopping, dividing up the tasks and prioritising. She will also provide a walk-through of their design, energy efficiency strategies and the materials specified in their project and is happy to answer any questions you might have regarding the competition.
Melanie Lupis
Melanie is an environmental enthusiast, nature lover and mum. She works as a Home Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Consultant and heads up her own company Sustainability Certified Pty Ltd. Her mission statement is to “demystify the challenges of sustainable building and make it accessible and desirable to mainstream homeowners and designers.” She has 20 years’ experience including having worked for local government as an Environmental Projects Officer with a primary objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and in the commercial construction industry in a variety of roles. Formal qualifications include: • Bachelor of Science (Hons) - Environmental Studies • NatHERS Accredited Assessor • Passive House Certified Consultant • Residential Efficiency Scorecard Assessor Melanie provides in-home assessments for existing homeowners looking to retrofit for energy efficiency and also works with homeowners, designers and architects to build thermal comfort and energy efficiency into the design of new builds and renovations.
